HEAVENLY TREASURES' INSPIRATIONS Aug/Sept 2010 HAVE YOU MADE A PILLOWCASE FOR THE MILLION CASE CHALLENGE YET? If you haven't contributed to this fun cause, you might want to take a couple pieces
of fabric and make one or two and donate to our cause. Our next project is to collect 30 to take to the Pawnee Manor. We want
each resident to get one so we're waiting to get the total needed. Got an idea for our next donation point? Let me know. Just
drop them in the laundry basket at the front of the store and someone will have a smile by getting a new pillowcase soon.
This challenge is for all of 2010. When I checked the website of allpeoplequilt.com it said over 119,000 pillowcases have
been donated so far. We've got a ways to go!
HERE ARE SOME QUILTER STATISTICS FOR YOU: I recently got a magazine (Quilt Retailer) with the following information about
a survey of households in America. 14% of U.S. households have at least one active quilter in them. That equals over 21 million
quilters. 85% of those quilters have a dedicated room for quilting and sewing and own an average of 2.7 sewing machines. 25%
own over 4 machines! On an average each one purchased over 93 yards of fabric in the past year. The average spent by each
quilter a year is over $2400. These numbers surprised me but good to know how many wonderful quilters there are in our country. RUN FOR THE BORDER SHOP HOP IS OCTOBER 8-16. We will be doing a row by row quilt and you will receive a pattern
to make a row of blocks at each of the 7 shops participating. We will have lots of prizes like fat quarters, gift certificates
and store drawings. Just what you need before the holidays and to get everything to finish those gifts. Get ready for "Row
by Row to the Border". We are open 9am to 6pm all of the days during the shop hop except closed on Sunday. Come in and
get a goodie, bag, take advantage of the extended hours and get ready for Christmas projects. WOULD YOU LIKE
SOME FUN AND FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER QUILTERS? You should consider coming to our quilt club monthly meeting. We are now in the
middle of the Egg Money Quilts by Eleanor Burns. Bring your show and tell projects, have some fellowship, eat some munchies
and have some fun on the second Tuesday of the month. Our next meetings are August 10 and September 14. NEW
FABRICS: You can't believe how many
new fabrics have been coming in. Hardly a day goes by we don't get something new. Christmas, fall and Halloween, of course
this time of year. New 30s, flannels, and brights. Lots of new homespuns for those rag quilts that are great fall projects.
We have a new panel for an advent calendar. We have some new kits in cottons, orientals and minkies, too. Come check these
new pieces out to add to your stash or start a new project.
NEW NOTIONS: We have a new 4 in one tool by Alex Anderson that is a ripper, stilletto, wood press and corner turner all
in one. We have some new rulers that are 3.5" by 9" which is a great size for classes. We also got a new ergonomic
stilletto to help those with arthritis problems. NEW PATTERNS & BOOKS: New bags, quilt projects,
flag, aprons and more. Watch for new classes using our new books and patterns. NEW CLASSES: Fall brings time for classes again.
Irene Fisher will teach a paper pieced bird house hanging on September 11. Its a simple starter project for
paper piece learning. September 25 Pat Kanel will teach a beautiful bag class called Bow Tucks. Check out
our bright sample and see if it interests you. October 2 I will teach a 3 in 1 bag class from a pattern I
picked up in Canada and have ordered from the designer. It is a basic bag with a reversible jacket that buttons on over the
basic bag so you can have 3 different looks with one bag. October 23 Pat will teach a rag quilt class. With
all of our new flannels and homespuns you can make something beautiful in no time with this class. November 13 I'll
teach a simple quilt class called "Picture This". This features 9 bright prints framed in for a simple quilt for
beginners. You can use your own bright focus fabrics or get some new fat quarters from all our choices. Our class fee is $15
which includes lunch. If there is book or pattern involved you must purchase that and your fabric and supplies as well. Bring
your own machine in good working order for the class. Come in and check out our samples and choose your class. The fun and
fellowship is great! We learn lots from each other, too. WE NOW HAVE A FEATURE OF THE
MONTH! By the register we have a little framing quilt that shows an item we are featuring for 30% off while they last. We
have some patterns from Alaska designer Lisa Moore right now called "I spy with a twist." Check this out when you
come in next time. This will change so you'll have to keep looking at that little quilt by the register. July
31, 2010 IS A 5TH SATURDAY! BRING IN YOUR SHOP HOP BAG AND GET 20% OFF YOUR PURCHASES FOR THAT DAY AT HEAVENLY TREASURES.
Next one is October 30. SALE! SALE! SALE! For August we'll put all the panels 20% off if you tell us you read it in
our newsletter. We have a nice selection with children's quiet books, adult, holiday, brights, pastels, etc. For September
we will feature the fleece. This will include all the specialty fleeces like Minkie as well. Get your supplies to make your
beautiful tied blankets for quick gifts. Babies love that soft minkie and we have some gorgeous prints for the teens as well. HEAVENLY
TREASURES WILL BE CLOSED ON LABOR DAY. How's your block of the month leaf quilt coming? This project ends in
October and we will take a little break over the holidays and start a new one the first of the year. Mark your
calendar for March 31, 2011 to April 10, 2011 for the Nebraska state shop hop for next year. We're doing some different things
and it should be a fun and exciting time for quilters. Keep up the project Linus blankets. Always glad to pass on those donations
to a great cause. DO YOU NEED SOME QUILTS FINISHED? Bring those tops in that you've made and have me quilt them
for you. If you're not a quilter but would like to give a quilt as a gift, check out our finished quilts for sale. If
you would like to get a newsletter from the members of Nebraska Independent Fabric shops organization that does the state
shop hop, you can sign up for that at www.fabricsandquilts.com. Our normal hours are Monday through Friday
10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm. If the weather is bad, please call first. If schools are closed, we may
be closed, too. If you have email and would like to help me save postage, please let me know and you can get this newsletter
via email. Marie Glenn, owner Heavenly Treasures, Inc. 700 9th St, Pawnee City, Ne 68420 402-852-2270 Email heavenly4125@yahoo.com website www.heavenlytreasurespc.com
