HEAVENLY TREASURES'
INSPIRATIONS
January 2012
Another new year! I can hardly believe how fast last year went. We are going to start some new things for 2012. First, I will be offering some email sales. If I do not have your email address, you’ll need to get it to me so you can be informed of these sales with a few days’ notice. I cannot mail about instant sales so please let me email to you to save me money on my newsletter mailings and save you money by letting you take advantage of same instant sale opportunities. You can email me at heavenly4125@yahoo.com to get the change made. Thanks to all of you that have already made that conversion for me. I am also updating my web site so I can sell from it. I hope to have it activated with some items in January. The email newsletter will be coming from a new company, too, so watch for a new look!
We are excited to use our new classroom in the lower level. We have put in new flooring, painted and purchased 6 machines so you don’t have to haul your machine for a class here in the future. You need to be able to use stairs to enter and exit this area.
2012 BLOCK OF THE MONTH is starting now! Have you signed up yet? Each month you will pick up 3 fat quarters of fabric for $5. Two of them are black and white reversing prints and you may choose a marble accent color each month. You may make each month the same or have a different color each month (of course that’s what I did). Instructions will be supplied for your cutting and sewing the two blocks reversing the fabrics to make two different looks. You may use your accent color in different ways and we will give you hints on some of the blocks that it is better to use the accent a certain way for the contrast effect of the design. Moda has provided us with this program and also added a recipe for something yummy with each pattern. Come and check out our January samples and sign up before March 31. We have a limited amount available of the black and white fabrics.
2012 NIFS SHOP HOP IS COMING SOON! Our “Quotable Quilts” shop hop begins April 19 and runs through April 29. You may reserve your bag or t-shirt purchase by coming in and paying and filling out a form. There are a limited number of bags available and the $15 cost you will save easily on the 20% discount you’ll receive on our 5th Saturday sale days. You will see a new bag look and receive a refillable water bottle to help you along your way this year. Each shop will be giving two quilt block patterns to each hopper that arrives with a bag. One will be a 6 inch finished block that is pieced and one will be a 12 inch finished block with a quilt related quote on it for you to finish as you’d like. The complete finishing pattern will be in your bag when you purchase it. If you don’t get to all of the shops, you can fill in the quotes you’re missing with four patch blocks. Hopefully I will have a sample for you to see soon.
DEMO TIMES: January 14 I will do a demonstration on how to attach binding to your quilt on the machine. Once you’ve finished those projects, the binding is the framing touch and you need to feel confident that you can complete this process with ease. February 18 Jean will be doing a demo on how to make one of her darling flowers with circles. March 10 I will do a demo using the Quilt in a Day square up ruler that squares half square triangles while they are still triangles. Saves lots of time and cutting. Demos will be given at 11am and 1:30pm.
NEW FABRICS : John Deere fabric has invaded us! We got an email that it was going on sabbatical so I ordered many in. We have two children’s books, two aprons and lots of yard goods. We have some new bright things from Blank Quilting and some new backings.
NEW NOTIONS: Wrights has changed out our bias tape/binding, and rick rack fixture with new colors. We have some of the old ones in the sale room so check and see if you can use any of them.
PATTERNS & BOOKS: We got some new patterns in from Stitchin Heaven. I will be using one of those for my January 28 class.
NEW CLASSES : January 21 Sandi Johnson will be teaching a handbag class of her original design. The $15 class fee will include your instructions for 3 sizes of this bag. The one you will make is 14 x 10. It has lots of pockets inside with a magnetic closure. January 28 I will do a class making a quilt top called “From Here to Eternity”. It”s an excellent class for beginners. You will need the pattern and fabric cut before class to speed up the sewing process. Come see my sample in the foyer. As always, the $15 class fee includes lunch. February 25 we will host a mystery class. You will make something wonderful and learn a new technique. Please bring your cutter, ruler, and 36 10” squares of fabric and two pieces 6” x 60” and two pieces 6.5” x 70”. This class will be $30 but will include take home stuff and lunch. March 17 Margaret Om will be teaching a wonderful pattern for a wall hanging or baby quilt of 3D butterflies called Butterfly Kisses by Thimble Art. It is some paper piecing and makes a beautiful smaller project. $15 class fee for this one plus pattern and fabrics. Sign up now since our space is limited!
Machine Quilting prices are raising a little in the new year. I’m still going to be a bargain at $.02 per square inch. You may estimate your quilting fee by taking the width times the length and that total times .02. Check out all of the patterns I can quilt on your top and get it finished for you. If you want me to bind it for you, please add $.20 per inch for the binding.
December 31 is the next 5TH SATURDAY SALE DAY. BRING IN THAT SHOP HOP BAG AND GET 20% OFF YOUR PURCHASES THAT DAY. We will be open 10am to 3pm as usual. THE NEXT ONE WILL BE March 31.
SALE! SALE! SALE! We’ve added a new sale item at Heavenly Treasures. It’s called the mystery bag. We will have a hint of the contents on the outside of the bag but you can’t peek until you buy it. We promise it will be a real bargain. Are you adventurous enough to try? Watch for an email sale in your email box!
QUILT CLUB MEETINGS ARE THE SECOND WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH. For Jan it is the 11th, Feb it is the 8th and March is the 14th. 1:30 or 6:30 pm take your pick and join us to see our Alaskan Samplers progress.
Keep up the project Linus blankets. Always glad to pass on those donations to a great cause. DO YOU NEED SOME QUILTS FINISHED? Bring those tops in that you've made and have me quilt them for you. If you're not a quilter but would like to give a quilt as a gift, check out our finished quilts for sale.
Our normal hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm. If the weather is bad, please call first. If schools are closed, we may be closed, too.
