Oct 2017

HEAVENLY TREASURES IS FOR SALE!  In an attempt to clarify lots of rumors that have gone around and around, I want you all to know what is happening.  August of 2016 I said I would try to sell the store for two years and then I am committed to be living in Lincoln full time with my husband.  That means we are within the final year now of that promise to myself and my family.  If you know anyone that might know anyone that might enjoy this wonderful quilt shop, please send them my way to talk.  If I need to close the store that process takes some time so I would love to be talking to anyone that might want to keep it open now.  I am flexible in terms for the building and fixtures.  The website with the fabrics for sale and the   mailing and email lists could be left in tact for the new owners.  It’s a great business and I would sure love for someone with the dream I had 13 years ago be able to carry on with this very fun experience.

FIFTH SATURDAY SALE – The next fifth Saturday sale is September 30, 2017 to use your 2017 bag for the 20% discount.  Bring your card from the 2016 Run for the Border or your 2017 Nebraska shop hop bag in that day for 20% off anything in our store.  Even the sale room items are 20% off the sale prices if you have your bag or card with you.  We are open our regular hours 10am to 3pm that day.  There will be one more 5th Saturday sale in 2017 on December 30.

RUN FOR THE BORDER STARTS OCTOBER 5  - This year Run for the Border shop hop has 8 shops participating for your hopping fun.  Pick up your passport book at one of the participating shops and visit them all to get your name in the drawings.  Our first prize is a $50 gift certificate to each shop.  Our second prize is a $25 gift certificate to each shop.  We will also have fat quarter bundles and other prizes to give away.  The shops involved are Quilters Boutique in Rock Port, Mo., Fabric Fairie and Needles I in Auburn, Ne, Creative Collectible Quilts in Humboldt, Ne., Sew Enchanting in Nebraska City, Ne. Heavenly Treasures in Pawnee City, Ne., Quilting on the Square in Holton, Ks., and Sarah Kathryn’s in Hiawatha, Ks.  All stores will be open 9am to 6pm on October 5, 6, 7, and 9.  The passport booklet will tell you if the stores have longer hours than these.  Our theme this year is “Search for the Stars” so you will be having a scavenger hunt in each store to find their hidden star block in order to get your passport stamped.  Each person will receive a free pattern for a project in their goodie bag at each store.  The stores might offer kits to make their projects, have an in-store drawing or offer snacks as you visit.  When you turn in your completed passport page after visiting all 8 shops, you will receive a card authorizing you to get 20% off on the 5th Saturday sale days through September of 2018.

“POSTCARDS FROM NEBRASKA” SHOP HOP FOR 2018.  From March 1 to March 24, 2018 you can travel across Nebraska for our annual Shop Hop.  The fabric is being designed, a quilt is being designed with a free block pattern from each shop, and the logo is being drawn.  This is the 20th Anniversary of our Nebraska Independent Fabric Shops group so we are looking for a fun time to be had by all!  There will be more information in the January newsletter.

QUILT CLUB -   We are about halfway with our quilt called Bright Hopes Sampler.  This has 17 different blocks so will take us a year and a half to complete the project.   I’m so excited that we have 15 people having fun with this.  The fee of $15 covers all of the instructions that you receive when you come to the monthly meetings.  Stop in and pick up a picture and sign up to join us.  We meet the second Wednesday of each month at 1:30pm.  You may use whatever  fabric  you would like to make yours unique.  We have something to eat and show and tell each month.  We also share a lot of ideas and get advice from each other.  It is a very fun group and we would love to have you join us for this new project.  If you want to follow the pattern it uses 5 different fabrics but you are welcome to use your stash and make it scrappy as well.  You don’t have to attend every month but it’s a lot of fun if you do!  It’s not too late to join us and catch up.

NEW AIRLITE BATTING – We now have a thin cotton but strong batting by the yard from Airlite.  It comes 93” wide or 122” wide and is very reasonably priced and you can get just the yardage you need.  Come in and check it out.

NEW FABRICS AND DISPLAYS – We are continuing to get new fabrics in and making new samples to hang up to inspire you.  We got some batiks and wide backs in.  We also got a holiday line with 2.5” strips and  10” square sets and some bolts that is in the 30’s genre of fabrics .  We have some new children’s book panels of the 3 dimensional style.  So cute!

NEW PATTERNS:  Come and see the new sample hanging with our garden delight strips and pattern.  We got a book to go with these strip sets as well.  It is striking.  We have a smaller new pattern called playful that would be a great baby pattern with the right fabrics.   I think one of our most popular patterns is the Cross over bib.  If you have baby gifts to make, this reversible bib is darling and you can personalize it with applique.

QUILTS SHOW FOR YOU TO ENTER AND ENJOY:  October 14 is the annual Harvest Bash in Pawnee City.  People from many states participate in the giant pumpkin contest, vendors are selling fun stuff and there is lots of activity in town.  There will be a quilt show that you can enter a quilt or just come and see the ones on display made by others that weekend.   It will be held at the Poteet Hall, 849 F St, Pawnee City on Oct 14 from 10am to 2pm.  There is at least one prize you might win (I know since it is from Heavenly Treasures!).

SALES:  Our October sale will be blue bolts of fabrics 40% off the week of  Oct 9-14 .  Blue wide backings are included, too.  From November 6 to 11 we will allow you to buy 10 fat quarters and get 10 free.  This sale will be for the fat quarters that are already cut individually in the store.  No punch cards will be used during this week.    If you’re looking for using stripes and chevron fabrics (which make great borders, I think) you can get them 40% off December 11-16.  Only fabrics on bolts are included in this sale.

Heavenly Treasures will be closed November 23 for Thanksgiving and December 25 for Christmas.

Our normal hours are Monday through Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3pm.    If the winter weather is bad, please call first.  Marie Glenn, owner, Heavenly Treasures, Inc.  700 9th St, Pawnee City, Ne  68420.  402-852-2270 Email is heavenly4125@gmail.com.   Website is www.heavenlytreasurespc.com
